NORWOOD's season came to an end with a painful loss to North Adelaide in the reserves Grand Final on Sunday at AAMI Stadium.

The Roosters thumped the Redlegs 23.8 (146) to 6.13 (49), completing a highly successful season for the North Adelaide Football Club.

The Roosters won the Stanley H. Lewis trophy for being the most successful club for the season, as it was in 2005.

Despite both its junior teams missing the finals, the senior sides both went far into the finals series.

After the Roosters lost the league preliminary final, it was up to the reserves side to make sure the year finished on a high.

North's reserves won the premiership last year too, but coach Scott Peters said no one had expected such a large margin.

“The result would have surprised most people that we won by that much,” Peters said.

“They beat us heavily earlier in the year at Norwood, and we got them at Prospect, then we came from behind and won in the second semi final.”

North's Josh Cubillo was named best-on-ground.

Peters said the match was won in the third quarter.

“We kicked with the breeze in the first quarter and we were only up by three goals,” he said.

Norwood would have been quite happy at quarter time.

“I sort of thought we had it once we got a good start to the third quarter.”
