SUPERTRAMP: Retrospectacle (A&M).
THE
festive season is almost here, meaning hits collections will soon be thick on
the ground. This 17-track retrospective covers Supertramp's
career comprehensively, from pre-hit debut to the declining years following Roger
Hodgson's departure. The real meat of Supertramp's
repertoire is here, starting with four tracks from Crime of the Century and concluding with final hit It's Raining Again. Fittingly, there are
also four cuts from the band's multi-platinum monster, Breakfast in America. Let down by several latter day songs, which
sound keyboard-heavy, over-produced and a little tired.
