MiG: MiG (Universal/Decca)

This debut from Sydney's MiG is as safe as his performances on Rockstar: INXS – a collection of covers to show off his smooth vocals without trampling on the originals. He chooses well for his voice (Baby I Love Your Way, Kiss from a Rose), but stays firmly in the middle of the road. Even Pearl Jam's Jeremy is sumptuously orchestrated, as is The Kinks' Waterloo Sunset, losing the song's melancholy. MiG has an adaptable voice, but it's hard not to wonder exactly what he has to say.
