JOHN LENNON: The US vs
John Lennon (Capitol/EMI)
The soundtrack from the forthcoming documentary, about John Lennon's
battle to avoid deportation from the US, is pretty much a mix
of Lennon's best-known songs and album tracks, but there are some temptations
for die-hard fans. Along with excerpts from the doco, there are live versions
of two of his most direct political songs – Attica State and John Sinclair. There's also the backing
track of his anti-McCartney diatribe How
Do You Sleep?,
which highlights George Harrison's searing slide guitar work. Lennon completists will want this even if there isn't much new,
and it certainly whets the appetite for the acclaimed doco.
