HUMAN NATURE: Reach Out: The Motown Record (Sony/BMG).
IS this
really necessary? There's no doubt Australia's ubiquitous boy band can
harmonise, but this trawl through Motown hits adds
zilch to the classic originals. Perhaps the quartet should have revived some
more obscure Motown moments (which they do with Edwin
Starr's Twenty-Five Miles), but
they're on a hiding to nothing taking on Baby
I Need Your Loving, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, I'll Be There and The Tracks of My Tears. Glenn A. Baker
pays due respect to the songs in his liner notes, a history which dwarfs these
four voices.
