DANNY HODGSON: Live (Independent)

One of Adelaide's best kept secrets, Danny Hodgson is a pianist with a CV to kill for –  keyboardist for Tom Jones, accompanist for Bob Hope, Vera Lynn, Max Bygraves and Tommy Cooper, musical director for the BBC. Recorded live at the Chifley on South Tce, Danny plays ballads (Laura, As Time Goes By, It Had to Be You), jazz standards (Satin Doll, It Don't Mean A Thing, Blue Monk) and show tunes (Music of the Night, Send in the Clowns, All I Ask for You), gliding up and down the keyboard with precision. Glasses tinkle in the background, and the piano stool creaks a little as Danny moves to the music, but the Chifley's baby grand never sounded so good. Settle back with a drink and enjoy.
