THE DANDY WARHOLS: Odditorium or Warlords of Mars (EMI).
ANYONE
thinking the Dandy Warhols had sold out to chase the
charts will think again after the sprawling Odditorium. Singer/guitarist
Courtney Taylor-Taylor and his cohorts have always worn influences on their
sleeves, and the Dandies are at their most convincing in '60s mode. Odditorium is
certainly that, as the quartet meanders through psychedelic grooves and
extended jams that hint at acid jazz. Everyone
is Totally Insane and Down Like Disco are prime Dandies while All the Money or The Simple Life Honey is a horn-driven burst that
suggests a Vegas detour.
